About

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Equietude Wellness Centre, and I thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself and share a little bit of what Equietude Wellness Centre has to offer. I am Betty Hagey and I bring a lifelong passion for horses, nature, and helping others to Equietude Wellness Centre. I completed my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University and I am licensed with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario as a Registered Psychotherapist. In addition to my MA and RP credentials, I am certified via the Traumatology Institute (Canada) as a Clinical Traumatologist (TITC-CT), I have completed advanced level training in Grief Counselling, Walk and Talk Nature Therapy, working with ADHD, Internal Family Systems, and Integrative Trauma processing, and am a Level 2 Facilitator of the Cartier Farms Building Block Equine Assisted Learning program. I am also a member of the Ontario Society of Registered Psychotherapists.

In bringing horses, nature and our shared common humanity together in a trauma and grief informed, strength-based, person centered approach, I draw from not only academics, but from a plethora of lived experiences to form a deeper level of awareness, compassion, empathy, appreciation for, and insight into the challenges and struggles of daily life that we all experience within our lives.

Just like many others, I too have faced the challenges, struggles, and adversity found within life. My personal journey has exposed me to an array of both positive and agonizingly painful experiences, and each experience, good and or bad, has carried with it valuable tidbits of information that, over time, have became instrumental in creating meaningful opportunities for the cultivation of self-awareness, mindfulness, self-agency, post traumatic growth, enhanced coping strategies, and resilience.

Within my healing journey, I have witnessed, experienced, and learned that when verbal communication cannot reach the core of one’s challenges, overwhelm, pain and or suffering, it is the “felt” body sensations, and the connections between mind, body, and spirit that become the foundation of healing, recovery, and resilience.

The services offered at Equietude Wellness Centre evolve from an integrative client-centered, trauma, nervous system, and grief informed approach that embraces the uniqueness of each individual.

By incorporating horses and nature into client sessions, I can often help clients draw parallels between what is happening with the horses or within nature, and what is happening within their own lives.

All sessions offered at Equietude Wellness Centre strive to inspire a deeper level of understanding and a renewed sense of hope to nurture self-esteem, self-confidence, autonomy, resiliency and the capacity to find meaning, purpose, joy, and happiness in life.
